BABY T'S NURSERY

|||||||||||||||||||||||

As soon as we found out we were having a baby boy I was so excited to finally be able to put together a boy’s nursery for my own little one. As many of you know last year I had already put together a neutral nursery for boys and a colorful big boy room.

As I simply loved all those colors and textures I used in the big boys room, I decided that I wanted to use some of those colors again.

When it came to creating our own boys nursery I also wanted it to focus around my art work (prints), the color palate I had previously worked with along with avoiding the monochrome and grey / wood rooms we usually see for boys these days.

A big challenge I had was the room and space itself. We were turning the office space or more like the dump room into a nursery which is the smallest room in the house and has no wardrobe.  We also just packed away Christie's nursery furniture in January so we were using the same cot and dresser for our baby boy’s room as buying new furniture all over again simply wasn’t an option.

A challenge I gave to my self was to make sure by using the same furniture we had for Christie that the room didn’t feel and look like her nursery again but in a boy’s version. I then decided to give the dresser a little makeover. I tossed and turned with so many ideas but being pregnant and executing them all on my own was a big task.

This is where I have been so lucky to work with Minnie and Me Interiors again in using her gorgeous removable wallpapers. Once I had told her I wanted paneling in shades of blue as always she was amazing at coming back to me with so many color options that would work. It was a tough choice but I’m so happy with the outcome of the whole dresser now. Oh and a huge thank you to my Dad for making me the custom wood drawer handles, when I searched high and low for brass ones and  they were only available in the style I wanted from America, he came to the rescue with these wooden one which tie in with the whole room perfectly.

I have been so lucky to work with Plush Sofas once again with this amazing rocking chair. I had always wanted a rocking chair in the nursery since i had Christie, so this was a must have for me this time around, it will be the perfect space to feed baby while also having Christie sit with me or play on the floor.

The staff at my nearest store was so helpful and so lovely to work with and helped so much with all the color samples going from one end of the show room to the other just to see the colors in different light setting. Even pregnant I was super indecisive. We went with the Toulouse rocking chair with white legs and the color Mode Mirage Pewter fabric.

As im constantly creating art work for my little business once I created the Llama prints I knew I had to have one for our little boy. Animal prints are perfect for boys and girls room these days no matter the color or style. They are perfect for that Scandi Boho look so naturally one had to be featured in bubbas room. I'm also obsessed with Llamas at the moment so dont be surprised if you see more llama items pop up slowly.

Even though the room focuses around blues, greens and mustard shades I feel like it can also still work for a little girls nursery if you like that Boho scandinavian vibe. You can simply change some greens or blues for deeper pinks, purples, plums and the room will instantly change. As our main furniture is neutral the decor items and colors can easily be changed over for girls items and colors.

I hope you love the room as much as I do, and hopefully its a change from what Christie's nursery used to look like. I’m sure it’s still a work in progress and once bubba is earth side and can get more things done without a big belly, I’ll probably change some stuff around again haha. Now just for our little boy to arrive and enjoy his room.
