ANDREWS CHRISTENING

We always celebrate christenings more than birthdays, even as kids we never really had HUGE birthday parties and when we did, they were either all family or the good ol Maccas party other than just going out with a few friends at play centers. These birthdays were only up until 1O yrs old.

As Greek Orthodox we do tend to celebrate christenings more, so therefore we decided to have Andrews christening at a younger age rather than combine a massive first birthday and Christening together. As he is younger, he was also so much easier to handle during the ceremony rather than be holding a 1yr old for the duration of the ceremony.

Now I’m all for any type of event as I love creating magical events and all the styling and planning is right down my alley 😊 As I know we probably wont have any huge birthday parties, I wanted his christening to be something gorgeous but still intimate and something we will all remember and have memories to cherish for years to come.

Suzie from Light Gloss Photography was our amazing photographer for the day, and I cannot recommend her enough to you. She has captured the most amazing and natural moments from Andrews special day. I’m have such a hard time choosing what to share with you all as they are all simply DIVINE!!

As you probably all know by now and from the past few events I’ve done, I tend to stay away from a specific themes, But for Andrews christening I fell in love with constellations, starts and moon before he was borne and have wanted to create something around this for a while but without it being baby or childlike.

This was my spin on that theme and I also wanted to hero colors for the event rather than the “theme” so by using Sage green as my main and focal color, I then added Silver, grey, blue and shades of green with subtle touches of the Moon and Stars theme through the stationary and cake topper.

Lets also take a moment to say how gorgeous Andrews cake topper and name plaque were, the lovely Fox and Hart hand drew everything and converted them into the cake topper and name plaque. SIMPLY AMAZING calligraphy skills and how she designed the cake topper to have our moon and stars theme.

Vivalicious Sweets also created magic by incorporating the same concept throughout all her desserts. The cookies were super cute as she combined the invitation design, color and concept by hand drawing it onto her cookies. Her cookies, cake and donuts all flowed nicely together and matched the rest of the colors of our event.

I had also asked for a square cake which matched our square candle and invitation and let’s just say she delivered it and exceeded my expectations. All our guests absolutely loved everything especially the cake, I even had guest tell me not to cut the cake as it was too gorgeous not to BUT might I add that the cake was delicious, and everyone wiped their plates clean 😉

Of course, when it came to flowers, I simply had to use Bunch About Town again, Marcella created my baby shower flowers and we absolutely loved them so when I gave her the brief 2^nd time round she absolutely nailed it.

One thing I especially wanted to use for our dessert/ feature table were plinth and the combination of the clear and white simply looked stunning and didn’t make it look monotone and flat if I had only used white plinths. Magnolia Event Hire had both options along with the gorgeous vintage highchair and cake stands so we didn’t have to source from a variety of places. Plinths are so on trend now and if you have ever thought about using plinths, I highly recommend them, even if its just to display your cake on with a feature wall at the back.

Using a backdrop also helps with creating a feature space and perfect for taking some photos with guests, we used a white mesh and added the STUNNING balloons from Magic Wand Parties who created a stunning balloon garland and delivered my color vision perfectly, to one side and to tie the whole table styling with our décor we also added some flowers to the back drop.
